6/3/10- Rocky’s Recap

Top 3 Games

  1. 2010 NBA Finals Game 1- Celtics at Lakers (LA- 102-89)

The much anticipated Final didn’t get a gem in game 1.  In fact, it’s been the theme of the 2010 NBA Playoffs; blowouts and awful games.  Even this one wasn’t as close as the score indicated.

People were skeptic whether or not the Lakers were physical enough to take on Boston.  Well, they definetely proved the skeptics wrong.  The Lakers size and length proved to be too much for the Celtics as LA outrebounded Boston 42-31.  Kobe Bryant was once again the star as he did his usual schtick (30 pts, 7 reb, 6 ast)  Gasol had a solid outing with 23 points and 14 boards.

For Boston, everyone seemed to struggle.  Ray Allen was in foul trouble, Derek Fisher did a great job on Rondo and Garnett wasn’t really a factor on the glass.  Pierce was the lone bright spot with 24 points.

Phil Jackson is 47-0 all-time in series where his team has won game 1.

Game Rating 1 1/2*

2.  MLB- Oakland at Boston (Oak-9-8)

It was a wild one in Fenway.  Boston had 18 hits, but still couldn’t pull out the win.  Oakland hit 4 home runs on the day, C Kurt Suzuki had two of them.  The A’s had not hit more than 2 home runs in a contest all season long.

Game Rating- 3*

3. MLB- Atlanta at Los Angeles (Atl- 4-3)

The Braves picked up their 9th win in a row as they hung on 4-3.  The Dodgers put up 3 in the 8th to cut Atlanta’s lead to one, but Takashi Saito and Johnny Venters came in the 9th to save it for the ATL.

Troy Glaus continuous his hot surge as he hit his 10th dinger of the season.  Even a fire extinguisher won’t put out his sizzling bat.

Game Rating- 1 3/4*
