6/6/10- Rocky’s Recap
Top 3 Games
1. NBA Finals- Boston at Los Angeles (Bos- 103-94)
Remember when MJ shrugged his shoulders in the NBA Finals against Portland in 1992 when he scored 35 points in the first half. That performance was duplicated last night as Ray Allen’s sweet as kool-aid’s jumper kept splitting the strings from deep in the first-half. He had 7 3’s and 27 points in the 1st 24 minutes of play. Allen finished with 32 points and a NBA rec0rd 8 3-pointers.
Rajon’s Rondo’s performance can’t be overshadowed either. He went Oscar Robertson on the Lakers with a triple-double; 19 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.
The game was close throughout, but Boston pulled away in the final few minutes to garner the victory.
Game Rating- 3*
2. Stanley Cup Final- Philadelphia at Chicago (Chi- 7-4)
This series could be headed the same route as last season’s Cup Final between Detroit and Pittsburgh. Each home team won on their home-ice until game 7 where Pittsburgh finally broke the trend to win the Cup. The Flyers are 9-1 at home in the postseason.
Chicago got up 3-0 after the 1st period as Flyers GK Michael Leighton once again looked shaken in Chicago.
Chicago LW Dustin Byfuglien (pronounced Bufflin if you want to sound smart) finally got off the schnide with 2 goals and 2 assists. Oh, and Ben Eager decided to take the puck after the game last night which puts an end to Chris Pronger’s consecutive Stanley Cup puck keepsake snatching streak.
Game Rating- 1 1/2*
3. MLB- San Francisco at Pittsburgh (SF- 6-5 F/10)
It was a wild, bizarre 9th as both teams put up 2 to keep the game tied. In the 10th, it was the ex-Pirate 2B Freddy Sanchez who came back to haunt the Buckos. His sac-fly in the 10th won it for the Giants.
Game Rating- 2 1/2*
