YOOOAdrian’s 2010 World Cup Recap- 7/6 Day 26

Semifinals

NETHERLANDS vs URUGUAY (Ned- 3-2)

  • What can I say, Holland just continues to win futbol games.  All they need now is just eke out one more win, and take home the gold trophy.
  • The Dutch just keep winning.  They’ve won every game so far in this World Cup, and have won their last 10 confrontations overall.  They’ve been unbeaten in their last 25 matches.
  • Van Bronckhorst’s first goal may have been the goal of the tournament.  From 30 yards out he decided to give it a big twirl.  After it took a little paint of the post, it ripped the back of the net.
  • Without Suarez, Forlan moved from his roaming center forward role back to striker.  He has to be considered for one of the candidates for the Golden Boot.  He’s single-handidly carried Uruguay on his back throughout the tournament.  He’s scored 4 of the team’s 9 goals.
  • Quick Facts- Holland has not made a World Cup Final since 1978.
  • Men of the Match
  • Netherlands- Wesley Sneijder
  • Uruguay- Diego Forlan
  • GAME RATING- 3 1/4*
